BOB MACKIE LEADERSHIP LEGACY GRANT
Bob Mackie coached basketball and baseball at Ralston High School for 13 seasons. He led the 1964 basketball team and the 1967 baseball team to Class B State Championships, two firsts for Ralston High School. Following his teaching and coaching positions in Ralston, he became Northwest High School’s first Athletic Director.
As a standout basketball player at the University of Omaha, he set numerous school records, some of which still stand today. He was inducted into the University of Nebraska at Omaha Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983 and was voted into the Nebraska High School of Fame in 2021. |
In honor of Coach Mackie, a Leadership and Character Development Grant has been established for student-athletes in Ralston Public Schools who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship. As role models, these student-athletes can employ the tools acquired from this Grant in a positive, interactive way with other students and beyond.
Description of Legacy Grant: This endowment will make grants available to benefit students at Ralston Public Schools. The grants will be made available to coaches and awarded to qualifying individual students or qualifying programs benefiting groups of students. This program will focus on instilling the values Coach Mackie emphasized, such as teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and integrity. The grant can fund workshops, guest speakers, and resources to help students develop these essential life skills.
