Ralston Schools Foundation legacy grants
Legacy grants are funds where the principal value is given by donors. Once the funding to the legacy grants reaches the endowment threshold, the funds will be invested through the Nebraska Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. They invest the donations in an equity-weighted asset allocation portfolio. The current, annual distribution rate is 4.5% of the appreciated assets. Those assets will generate returns to fund grant activity benefiting students at Ralston Public Schools. The rest of the investment yield is returned to the principal, and over time, the account balance grows.
There are two important components of a legacy. First, the perpetual nature of the legacy grant creates a benefit every year for student opportunities. The second component is the creation of the criteria that reflect the value system of the donor(s) who initiated the charitable giving. Legacy Grants can be created for lost loved ones or those that are still with us and want to create opportunities for students.
Listed below are the legacy grants that have been gifted by donors like you who want to invest in students in an everlasting way. Each of our legacy grants has its own guidelines, its own purpose, and its own reason for existing. Each one touches Ralston Public School students in a meaningful way. Funds become available for students in perpetuity when they reach the endowment threshold.
