Naviaux Family Scholarship
Meredith “Merry” Naviaux: A lifelong educator and music lover, Merry played the piano and flute while being the high school majorette. She graduated from the University of Nebraska and taught 39 years in the Ralston Public Schools with a special talent to connect with both gifted and special needs students. She received an honorary doctorate in education from Doane University. Merry was a voracious reader, bridge player, gardener, and storyteller.
William “Bill” Naviaux: Active in sports including track, basketball and played football at Doane University. Attended the University of Nebraska College of Law and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa. An avid supporter of all things Ralston and Nebraska, he coached youth football, youth softball and was active in fundraising and community development. Bill loved family, the outdoors, gourmet cooking, fine wine and had a “bigger than life” personality.
Nicole “Nicky” Naviaux England: Always the comedian, Nicky was known for her impersonations, singing and acting prowess as she performed in several Ralston theatre productions. A Ralston high school swimming record holder as well as a talented softball player, she competitively swam at three Division 1 schools (Univ. of Wyoming & Pepperdine) before graduating from the University of Kansas. She loved adventure and taught English in Taiwan before focusing on a master’s in accounting from the University of Central Florida.

Description of scholarship: The scholarship selection committee will consider applicants who exhibit high character, demonstrate involvement in areas of focus such as music, sports, or community service, and submit a compelling essay that showcases their connection to the Naviaux family's values and attributes. Three students will be selected to receive a $1000 scholarship, which will be paid to the college or vocational school of their choice in the year awarded. The scholarship is a testament to the enduring legacy of Meredith, Bill, and Nicky Naviaux, who inspired countless individuals through their passion, dedication, and love of life.
