Teachers in the Ralston Public Schools System play a vital role in shaping the minds of future generations. They lay the groundwork for students to grow, learn, and succeed in their chosen paths. In honor of Keith Gilliland, an aspiring teachers scholarship was established for graduating seniors pursuing a career in teaching. Mr. Gilliland taught chemistry, physics, and earth sciences. Many of his students pursued careers in medicine, chemistry, and the physical sciences. They gave back to future generations as Mr. Gilliland did.

Scholarships for aspiring teachers provide financial aid designed to make pursuing an education degree more affordable. This scholarship is focused, concentrating on high school seniors about to start their college careers with specific majors that lead to a career in teaching.
Description of Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to talented graduating seniors who aspire to become teachers. They must demonstrate leadership potential and academic performance during the application process. Upon selection, this scholarship supports them financially in their journey to becoming a teacher. One graduating senior will be selected per academic year and will receive $1,000. The scholarship will be disbursed through the Ralston Schools Foundation directly to the recipient’s higher education institution, in accordance with the scholarship terms. Payments will be divided into two equal installments, one for each semester. Disbursement will occur upon notification of acceptance and proof of enrollment at the institution.
